The Tea Party Is Now The Pseudo Tea Party

Many news stories about Republicans and the Republican Party these days seem to mention the Tea Party.  I once considered myself a tea party member until I watched the grass roots movement get co-opted by the republican party and some big time party officials.

It should be no surprise that when the tea party originally formed its membership included a lot of Ron Paul supporters who had been calling for an end to the fed and positions to force the government to follow the constitution in all other matters especially in the wake of the recession/depression of 2008.

We saw people standing on the sides of streets in communities all over America holding signs about run away spending, following the constitution, waving Gadsen Flags etc.

We saw them march on Washington during the health care debate, still holding up signs with quotes from founding fathers, still waving the Gadsen Flags and talking about following the Constitution.

Then the elections came and we saw some politicians that truly believe in Liberty like Rand Paul swept in into office with some other republicans that talked a good game about following the Constitution and pork spending etc. Once in office many of them though acted just like the opponent they defeated, by creating earmarks for the district with just maybe different recipients. A simple search such as “tea party betrayed”  will reveal how the newly elected politicians didn’t even last a year without breaking many of their promises.

Of course the problem is not just the politicians who didn’t keep their word but also to many of the so called tea party members who also abandoned their original platform.  For instance if you’ll remember the “Pledge to America” where a bunch of lying politicians got up in front of everyone and promised not to pass laws that were unconstitutional and other such things, well they have broken many of those pledges already but where is the tea party? They should be on these people they helped into office for not keeping their word but because they are their candidate they overlook the broken promises.

Like the Evangelical Hypocrites the tea party also back much of the defense spending that is running this country into the ground. Oh they’ll complain against any domestic spending that they deem is driving us to socialism yet they allow defense spending which is the real drag on the economy to go on without nary a word of protest. They also aren’t vocal about the corporate welfare that is a large part of the budget and is not constitutional either.

From now on I will be calling these people the Pseudo Tea Party because that’s what they really are. For those unfamilar pseudo comes from greek and means false or fake. Hence the fake tea party.  Look going by the Constitution is not always easy. That is why it was written in the first place because the founders realized that people in power had a natural instinct to exact more control on those not in power.  For instance it is common  in the news and conversation to call people like our Harry Reid a leader or almost any other politicians for that matter. That is how most of these clowns think of themselves but they aren’t leaders and if the tea party was genuine and for the Constitution they would be reminding these people everyday that they are representatives, not leaders. Which makes them more of our servant than our leaders.

But I digress, If the tea party were really what it says it is, there could be no question on what present GOP candidate should get their support and that is Ron Paul. Ron Paul has proven over his whole career that the Constitution is the driving factor  in his voting record and one need only look at his record to determine that is exactly so.

Now let’s take for example the question of earmarks. Some of his opponents have brought up the fact Congressman Paul has put in for earmarks and that is definitely true. But he has then voted against those very earmarks when they are attached to a spending bill. Now people like Rick Perry who were bought and sold long ago can’t get a grasp on this. But anyone who studies the Constitution knows that (1) Congress is in charge of the pocketbook of the nation and so Ron Paul goes by the theory that every penny available to be spent should be designated for something. (2) He also recognizes that he was sent to congress to represent his district and when his constituents ask for him to put in for something he does so as “their servant” but the know at the same time he’ll be voting against it. Many times they do get it, because unfortunately Ron Paul’s ideals are rare in congress and he is many times the lone dissenter. It’s a shame because his ideals really should be the majority. The point of this paragraph is to point out that when it comes to spending Ron Paul is perhaps the only one with a clear conscience when it comes to following his oath and constitutional duties.

Many of the other candidates have proven by their actions in previous political positions that they were actually part of the problem the tea party was bitching about during the last election. Especially Gingrich and Santorum who both have a record of questionable spending. Just the fact that the tea party even considers them as viable candidates shows just how far from their original ideals this movement has come. They may be using the tea party name but they are no longer what they used to originally be.  For that reason, on this blog they will no longer be referred to as the tea party but to what they really are the pseudo tea party.

The simple facts are, you can’t be for the Constitution partially. You either believe in it or not. You don’t have to like all the results of living by it and if you did it would be rare. But you must realize that the alternative to not living by it is what we have today and this cannot continue if America still wishes to be the country that says Liberty and Freedom are its main goals.  For those of us who do believe in the Constitution, I think many have already come to the conclusion that that America is already lost and their will need to be a revolution to restore our true republic. How that will be accomplished is of course another discussion.

Another example is the neocons in power today and their love and war and conflict based on some premise that America should be involved in other countries’ business and workings all over the world. Hell, we go there on the premise of promoting freedom while our own freedoms disappear daily. Yet the Tea Party does what about that? Nothing of course because many of them agree with the neocons, support unconstitutional wars, unconstitutional spending on wars etc. etc..

You by now should get the point. The Tea Party as it is today is fake, phoney, or however you want to describe it. While there still may be a few individuals in it that espouse true ideals for true liberty the people that are the so called spokespersons are nothing more than republican party hacks in tea party clothing.

So get used to your new name Pseudo Tea Party, that is all you’ll ever be referred to on this blog as until you practice what you preach.
